Black Honey photos

Black honey Photos
I’ve spent quite a few evenings at gigs around London and the South East taking some Black Honey live photos.
Here’s a video using my images and turned into a video created by my talented friend Ian. You can make contact with Ian here www.iangallacher.info . Apart from film editing and graphics, Ian is an accomplished musician and can create one off pieces in a style of your choosing.

Black Honey have emerged as one of the brightest up and coming bands currently on the circuit and I have been privileged to photograph them live as their career takes off. Its a unique time and one that bands look back on with great fondness.

I hope these images will act as a reminder of the starting days when they are rich and famous!

Why do people have a Family Wall portrait?

Why do people have a family wall portrait?

One of the lovely things I get to do is hand over a family wall portrait to a client. It made me ask myself  ‘ why do people have a family wall portrait ‘?

Today I have handed over this lovely wall portrait to Zoe and Paul of their gorgeous son Lucas.

Family portrait photographer Gavin Woollard

We also made some lovely images of the family together.
I love knowing that this will take pride of place in their home hanging on their wall. Keeping a moment in time. Clients often tag me when they hang the portrait showing where it is having in their home.
After all, we all put things on our walls that we love dearly. As youngsters this might be a pop star or football team, when a little older a favourite holiday destination or something else we hold dear.

Take a look at your own wall. What do you have hanging there? No doubt it is of something important to you.
But as someone who has had a portrait of my daughter hanging on my wall since the was a newborn , there is nothing better to hang on your wall than a picture of our family or our children.
A study even showed a link between having family portraits up helps a child’s self-esteem.

If you have been thinking of having a family portrait there really is no better time than now.

Drop me a message if you would like to make plans for a family portrait session this year or buy a voucher from this link now.

One thing I know to be true.

Having seen my daughter grow up I know only too well a child or family portrait becomes more and more important with age. That one reason alone is why people have a family portrait.

Some great features for a wedding photographer at Mulberry House

I have been working as a wedding photographer at Mulberry House ever since I supplied pictures for their first website. Below I will list below a few features that I love using when photographing at Mulberry House.

In the mean time have a look at what Sophie said when she chose me to be her wedding photographer at Mulberry House.

An interview with a Mulberry House bride

Where did your wedding take place and what made you choose that location?
We held our wedding at Mulberry House in High Ongar. We actually found it by attending a wedding fayre there. I never went there to see the venue as me and my (now) husband had already seen one that we liked. I went to the fayre with both mums and we all fell in love with the venue. I went home and told my husband that he has to go and see Mulberry House as it would suit both of us. I’m old fashioned and loved the house and he’s modern and loved the thought of the marquee. The rest was history!!

What was your colour scheme or wedding theme?
When planning the wedding there was never a colour theme that took both of our fancy. I knew I wanted a theme of lots of flowers, a romantic setting, lots of candles and fairy lights and a vintage/boho vibe. James was as laid back as ever and said I could have whatever I wanted! We ended up having pastel coloured flowers with my bridesmaids in a nude like colour dress which complemented both me and the flowers amazingly. Then sticking to the vintage theme james went for a navy slim fit tail suit and ivory cravat which he did look very handsome in!

What was your dress like and why do you love it?
My dress was a lace tight fitting trumpet style dress, with layers of lace at the bottom and on the train. I always knew I didn’t want a princess style dress or a plain style. It was always going to be a lace dress as glitzy detail is just not me. I loved that the tiers of lace was so unusual and I hadn’t seen or tried another dress like it. As soon as I tried the dress on I knew it was the one, not only did my mum cry but I also cried and all of a sudden it all became real. I could imagine walking down the aisle in my amazing dress.

Tell us about your ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.’
My something old: I had some lace from my mum’s wedding dress sewn into mine on my train. It meant a lot to me and my mum as it holds a lot of sentimental value.
This was my something new: My beautiful dress, veil and shoes.
Something that I borrowed was a diamond bracelet from my nan.
The something blue that I wore was my garter!

Where did your groom get his morning suit?
James toyed with the idea of having a tailor made suit but decided against it as he wanted his best men and ushers to be matching him. He hired them all from the Ted Baker section in Moss Bros.

Did you buy each other wedding presents?
We did. James brought me a beautiful pair of diamond earrings that I wore on the day. He also bought me a photo frame of where we met, where we got engaged and where we were getting married. I think our wedding day was the most romantic he has ever been! I brought him a Rotary watch which was engraved on the side. He wore for the day.

Please tell me about your wedding cake.
Our wedding cake looked amazing and was exactly how I wanted. However it did not taste the best so if you get offered a cake tasting then do it! We had quite a plain cake as I wanted lots of flowers in between each tier. The middle tier had our initials on it and the other two had an ivory lace pattern.

What was your most useful source of wedding ideas and information?
Pinterest is so good for wedding ideas! I also brought quite a few (hundred) wedding magazines as it’s good to see other people’s weddings to get some ideas.

Tell us about a supplier who provided a first-class service.
Obviously Gavin Woollard photography! Nothing was ever too much for him and he knew exactly what we wanted when we said not too many ‘posey’ photos. But to be honest we were very lucky, we didn’t have any trouble with any of our supplies. Mulberry house were very good, no request was too much and they were very organised with everything on the wedding day, it all ran so smoothly with no issues.

Do you have any advice for future brides?
My advice would be is just to remember what you are planning, it’s not just the biggest day of your life, it’s also when your new life is starting with the love of your life. It’s all about getting married. Also, I know everybody says it but it honestly is the best day of your life but it is also the quickest. Take time to take in your day and remember that everybody there are to see you get married. Go off for just 10 minutes to talk to each other as there is not a lot of time that you actually are together in the day. We had a sweetheart table which was the best idea we had as it meant we spent the whole of the dinner just us two together and we were able to talk about the day so far.

What was your favourite photograph and why did you like it?
Oh, this is a hard question as there are so many that are my favourite. I guess it has to be the one of us walking out of the room after just saying ‘I do’. Our faces say it all, the photo shows so much love and pure happiness that I think it sums up perfectly what our wedding day meant to us.

Was Gavin Woollard Photography the right photographer for you?
Absolutely! From our first meeting we felt very comfortable with him and his work was exactly what we were looking for. He fitted in with our crazy families on the wedding day so well that all our guests were saying how much they liked him! I think we did a good job choosing him. We were also chosen for the front of a wedding magazine so that must show very good teamwork!!
